The Germany Chapter of The American Ceramic Society serves ACerS members in or near the cities of Cologne, Bonn, Aachen, Dusseldorf, and Dortmund for the purpose of promoting the arts and sciences connected with ceramics and glass science and engineering. Events such as workshops, industrial showcases, and seminars are planned to enhance and facilitate the interaction, technical discussions, and potential collaborations between ACerS members in Germany.

ACerS Germany Chapter co-hosts 3rdInternational Sustainability Workshop focused on Gender Equality
The ACerS Germany Chapter and the Materials Research Society (MRS) International Chapter at the University of Cologne co-hosted the “3rd International Sustainability Workshop focused on Gender Equality” on March 5, 1–3 p.m. CET. During this free event, women from different areas shared their experiences and gave an insight into women in science.

Frontiers in Advanced Ceramics, December 4, 2020
The Acers Germany Chapter and the Rhine Ceramic Chapter Germany hosted the 3rd International Rhine Round Table on"Frontiers in Advanced Ceramics"on December 4, 2020.
This virtual meeting was the third instalment of the Rhine Round Table discussion series, jointly organized by University of Cologne and TU Darmstadt. The panel discussed the benefits of joining a professional society.
Led by Sanjay Mathur, panelists included: Alexander Michaelis, DKG president; Dana Goski, ACerS president; Eva Hemmer, MRS student engagement/ACerS board member; Jon Binner, ECerS president; Martina Zimmermann, DMG vice president; Mark Mecklenborg, ACerS executive director; Moritz von Witzleben, JECS-Trust president; and Todd M. Osman, MRS executive director.

Highlight Symposium: Frontiers in Advanced Functional Materials at the MSE 2020, September 22-25, 2020
The ACerS Germany Chapter in cooperation with the German Materials Society organized the internationalHighlight Symposium,September 22-25, 2020.Experts working on the synthesis, processing and device integration of functional materials collaborated to provide sustainable solutions for applications in energy, environment and health sectors. Functional nanomaterials with intrinsically tailored properties and new paradigms in processing were the focus of the symposium.
The symposium symbolizes the spirit of the ACerS Germany Chapter to promote the engagement of young scientists in community activities and also to enhance inter-society (DGM and ACerS) collaborative efforts.
Symposium: Frontiers on Mahatma Gandhi, August 21, 2020
To celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma, a symposium was organized jointly by the American Ceramic Society Germany Chapter and the Materials Research Society International Chapter in collaboration with the SIDDHI initiative of IIT Madras as part of the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC). The webinar conducted by Shri. Birad Raja Ram Yajnik, Founder and Director of Mahatma Gandhi digital museum, Hyderabad, India. There were approximately 250 participants.
